Okay, so it's New Year's Resolution time. First of all, I really stink at these. I can remember when I was a teenager (no comments please - YES, I CAN remember that far back), I would make these really lengthy lists of resolutions. Of course by the end of the first week my list would be in shreds in the wastebasket.
This year, something has really caught my imagination. It's a concept that's been around for a while, and I think it's a great idea. There are probably lots of variations on this project, and it may go by different names depending on who is participating. It's commonly known as "Project 365", and the simple (but oh so wonderful) idea behind it, is easy - take one picture, every day. Can you think of an easier way to document a year of your life? The flotsam and jetsom, the random bits and pieces? I think it's brilliant, and I resolve to do this in 2009.
There are many different approaches that one could take to organizing and displaying the photos. The photos themselves, I think, could be great blogging jump-starts. In the photography community, the top-notch website Flickr has a Project 365 community, and of course the scrapbooking community is all over this one.
I started the project at the beginning of last week, Sunday, December 28th, 2008, with a random shot of my kitchen cookbook area.

My photo for today, January 3rd, is a rather sad shot of my naked Christmas tree, which was just relieved of its ornaments yesterday, with all of the homeless oranaments on the table next to it:
Oh Christmas, where did you go? We miss you already. Twelve months is too long to wait to see you again.
Anyway, there you have it. Project 365, and the first New Year's Resolution that I think I'll be able to keep.
I'll keep you posted.
