So, I was chatting with my sister last night via e-mail, (Hi Lori!), and she mentioned that she would give anything to go back in time, and relive our carefree childhood days in Merritt Island. I said that no, what I would really like to have back again would be the days of my son’s infancy. To hold the baby again, taking in the sweet baby sounds and scents.
It got me wondering though, about how we all have some other time and place where we’d rather be. Sometimes. Not permanently, but just for a little while. Kind of like Adam Sandler’s “Click”, but without the negative repercussions. It’s not that I’m turning my back on the here and now. It’s just that sometimes I’d like to see the there and then. Call me crazy, but for me, the good old days actually were amazingly good.
Some things I’d like to relive:
• An afternoon at the YMCA
• A day at Cocoa Beach, with the family
• The afternoon with Liborio, when he caught the eel
• Hanging out with Mary at the fabric store
• Repainting the Hippie’s house, with Lori
• Walking to the Magic Market, with Natalie
• A sleep-over at the Quenzler’s
• The time we rowed to “Dead Man’s Island” and spent the night out there
• A day at Disney World
• Going to Rudyard’s with Molly, et al
• My high school graduation
• My first week at college
• The first 3 months of my son’s life
• My son’s kindergarten graduation
Of course there are a thousand more points in time that I’d like to open the door on again.
As long as I could click my heels three times and make it back home!
What about you?
